Message from the Afro Songstress Lily M, on the Occasion of Commemorating International Women’s Day.

On this august occasion of commemorating the International Women’s Day. I wish to express my warmest and sincerest appreciation to the President and all the executives of the association and indeed, to all women of the world, even including young women.

Dr. James Emmanuel Kwegyir Aggrey an intellectual, missionary and teacher from Ghana said;

“If you educate a man You educate an individual But if you educate a woman You educate a nation”

Indeed, if you educate a woman you educate the whole world. Women have played very significant role in the many diverse affairs of the world including governance, science and technology, business, creative arts and more importantly in the home, nurturing man and woman together.

SGI President Dr. Daisaku Ikeda said;

“Women open the gateway, One young woman can open the gateway to great happiness and prosperity for many others”

The strength of a women can help relieve the suffering of many others and transform the times. Though the rain may fall and the wind may blow, the sun always rises. Women are the sun of the world peace and human freedom, and they never cease moving forward no matter what.

Particularly, to women in governance and the creative arts, you are like the sun and the moon. I encourage you to spread actions for peace and happiness, with wise patience, fearless courage and all-embracing compassion, imparting the light of happiness, hope and prosperity to the world, to humanity day and night and for all eternity.

Permit me please, to borrow yet another quote from Dr. Aggrey;

“If you play only the white notes of a piano You get only sharps, if only black keys you get flats, But if you play the two together

You get harmony and beautiful music”

Women, in general are committed to taking active measures to create an environment of equality and fairness for both women and men for they understand that it is the only way to bring justice, fairness, peace and prosperity to humanity, a harmonious world. Today, as we celebrate our day, the International Women's Day, I sincerely wish to urge all women and young women who are

our future to rise up possessing the Spirit of the indomitable Lion King, to save the world even in these trying times of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

While facing our own hardship as mothers of the world, let's rise with an invincible spirit of the Eagle to pray for our friends and families who are struggling and wholeheartedly support them in overcoming their problems. Let's bring hope and victory to others. Let's encourage others with our genuine, unaffected smiles, bringing brightness and warmth to our families to our nation and to human humanity at large.

Lastly, quoting from Zhuge Liang the celebrated statesman and strategist of China who attributes the following as crucial to leadership which we as women in leadership should note:

 We should eschew extravagancy.

 We should refrain from pompous and self-centered behavior.

 We should remember to repay our debts of gratitude of others

 We should take delight in the growth of our juniors, the young women and our children.

 We should develop the ability to listen to the opinion of others.

 We should value discussion and unity. Dialogue is the surest means of entering the hearts

of others.

Your Excellency, the President of the International Women’s Association, Distinguished Mothers of the World, empowering women to take central roles in social , political and academic arenas opens new paths for human civilization.

Therefore, I cannot over emphasize the importance of always giving women highest respect as they have contributed the most to society’s growth.

Women of the world, with the strength of the indomitable Lion King, let us celebrate our day with joy, hope and victory for all humankind!

Bravo!!!

Thank you!

Lily-M
